Outcomes of Regular Cannabis and Alcohol Use

What is this study about?

We are currently recruiting participants for a study on the impacts of regular cannabis vs. alcohol use on mental health, inflammation and gut health, and the role of the endocannabinoid system in these interactions.

Who can join this study?

To join this study, you must be between the ages of 21-60 years old. Additionally, ONE of the following must apply to you:

1.) You regularly use cannabis

2.) You regularly use alcohol

3.) You have not used cannabis or alcohol for at least the past year

What will i be asked to do?

Participation begins with a virtual session where you will provide consent and receive information and instructions about the study. After the virtual session, you will be asked to complete 3-minute daily surveys regarding your substance use and mood for 14-days, provide a microbiome swab sample from home, and then complete a 1.5-hour lab session (involving a single blood sample and several surveys). Total time spent on the study is roughly 3 hours and you can earn up to $73 cash for your participation.

Why should i join this study?

Participating in this study will help us gain a more in-depth understanding of how alcohol and cannabis, used regularly either together or alone, impact biological and psychological systems. The study also aims to investigate cannabis as a potential harm-reduction mechanism for individuals with alcohol use disorders.
