Drugs, Individual differences, Safer Consumption, and Overdose-prevention
What is this study about?
Substance use is prevalent at concerts and festivals and attendees are at elevated risk of experiencing adverse substance-related outcomes. Protective behavioral strategies (PBS) implemented at the individual level (e.g., test drugs for presence of fentanyl) may help to mitigate substance-related consequences such as accidental overdose. This study seeks to understand the link between substance use, PBS, and outcomes among attendees of electronic dance music (EDM) parties in Colorado.
Who can join this study?
You can participate in this study if you are an adult (age 18-65) who attends EDM concerts or festivals in Colorado.
What will I be asked to do?
This study involves completing a 15-minute survey on personal drug use patterns, use of protective strategies, and substance-related outcomes experienced in the past year. Participants receive their choice of a $10 gift card or commemorative art print in exchange for completing the survey.
How do I join this study?
We are currently collecting data in person at concerts and festivals in Fort Collins, Denver, and Golden Colorado.
Why should I join?
This study seeks to increase knowledge of the ways individuals can protect themselves while using drugs, particularly within high-risk environments. Study results may be used to inform harm reduction efforts in Colorado and within the EDM community at large.
