This study aims to follow 100 children through middle childhood into early adolescence to understand how brain function and self-regulation develop during this important period. Specifically, the study will help us understand differences in children\u2019s experiences, how parents and children experience stress, and how children\u2019s brains function while they are making decisions. Through this work, we hope to identify risk and resilience factors that impact children\u2019s self-regulatory development and inform the design of effective intervention strategies and policy. EL objetivo de este estudio es seguir 100 ni\u00f1os durante la infancia media y su adolescencia temprana para entender como las funciones del cerebro y autorregulaci\u00f3n se desarrollan durante este periodo importante. Espec\u00edficamente este estudio nos ayudara entender diferencias en las experiencias de ni\u00f1os, como padres e hijos experiencian estr\u00e9s, y como el cerebro de los ni\u00f1os funciona mientras est\u00e9n haciendo decisiones. Por medio de este trabajo esperamos identificar factores de riesgos y resiliencia que impactan el desarrollo autorregulatorio de los ni\u00f1os e informar el dise\u00f1o de estrategia y pol\u00edticas de intervenci\u00f3n eficaces. In this MRI study, we focus on stress physiology and brain function during inhibitory control in 30 18- to 19-year-olds. This research will help us understand how childhood experiences and stress may lead to different brain activity patterns that support inhibitory control. Findings from this research will contribute to greater precision in identifying effective prevention and intervention strategies for broader portions of the population.&nbsp;This study is a collaboration with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/psywebserv.psych.colostate.edu\/psylist\/detail.asp?Num=463\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Michael Thomas.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-css-opacity has-background is-style-wide\" style=\"background-color:#226618;color:#226618\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#226618\">Providing School Readiness Activities to Support Learning Over the Summer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">A growing body of research has determined that providing young children with early interventions and educational programs improves school readiness and is crucial to reducing socioeconomic disparities in educational achievement. This study will introduce Getting Ready for School (GRS) to parents and\/or preschool teachers as a set of learning activities that have been found to bolster children\u2019s school readiness prior to school entry. This research will demonstrate the implementation of GRS to parents and teachers and assess uses of these learning activities within the context of existing early care and education programs.
