Students are encouraged to think critically\u00a0about theories and research.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>PSY 437: Psychology of Gender\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-36 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/psychlabs.colostate.edu\/canettoresearchteam\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/04\/psy437-300x46.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"596\" height=\"92\" srcset=\"https:\/\/psychlabs.colostate.edu\/canettoresearchteam\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/04\/psy437-300x46.jpg 300w, https:\/\/psychlabs.colostate.edu\/canettoresearchteam\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/04\/psy437-768x119.jpg 768w, https:\/\/psychlabs.colostate.edu\/canettoresearchteam\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/04\/psy437.jpg 820w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>This course focuses on gender in cultural and historical contexts and across intersectionalities.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The goals of this course are: (1) to promote\u00a0<b>critical thinking\u00a0<\/b>about sex and gender in scholarly work and in everyday life; and (2)\u00a0<b>to learn about<\/b>\u00a0<b>questions, theories, research, and debates<\/b>\u00a0about women, men, and gender, across\u00a0<b>intersectionalities<\/b>, and in different\u00a0<b>historical and cultural contexts<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To support critical thinking, this class includes<b>\u00a0ideas, questions, and research evidence on gender representing a diversity of perspectives<\/b>.\u00a0In other words, this is not a class that delivers the familiar. Students are encouraged\u00a0to approach the different\u00a0<b>ideas, questions and research evidence <\/b><b>with curiosity,<\/b>\u00a0including curiosity about their reactions; and to practice taking\u00a0a\u00a0cultural and historical perspective\u00a0on women, men, and gender.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this class we value and honor that we come from a wide variety of backgrounds and that we have a diversity of experiences; and that therefore we bring to class a diversity of sensibilities and questions about women, men and gender.
