Principal Investigator

Dr. Vanessa Loaiza is an Assistant Professor of Cognitive Psychology at Colorado State University (CSU). Prior to CSU, she lived and worked overseas in the United Kingdom (Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield and the University of Essex) and Switzerland (postdocs working with Klaus Oberauer and Valerie Camos). She obtained her M.S. and Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology at CSU, working with Matthew Rhodes and the late David McCabe. She received her B.A. in psychology and philosophy at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, where she grew up. Dr. Loaiza is a first-generation student, the eldest child of an immigrant, and she has a large ethnically-mixed extended family. She loves spending time with that big family and her friends, traveling all over the world, and dabbling in outdoor sports like hiking, running, bouldering, and scuba diving!
Graduate Students

Emma Rhodes is a first-year graduate student in the CAM lab at CSU. Emma is interested in the interaction between working and long-term memory, and how aging affects that interaction. She received her B.S. in Psychology and Sociology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she researched substance use and judgment and decision-making. Outside of school, Emma enjoys outdoor activities, reading, baking, and being with loved ones.

Dr. Hiu Wah “Lily” Cheung completed her Ph.D. at the University of Essex in 2024. She is currently a Senior User Support and Training Officer at the University of Essex in Colchester, UK.

Dr. David Goldenhaus-Manning completed his Ph.D. at the University of Essex in 2024. He is currently a freelance tutor at the University of Essex Online in Colchester, UK.

Dr. Dawn Liu-Holford completed her SeNSS-ESRC postdoctoral fellowship with guidance from Dr. Loaiza at the University of Essex from 2020-2021. She is currently a Research Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Bristol in Bristol, UK.
